There comes a time when a tribe is con- fronted with tales of its own origins. People from other tribes approach, saying, “Here, we have discovered your secrets, your past, the origins of your identity.” Perhaps they have good evidence, perhaps they do not. Perhaps we take notice of them. Perhaps we do not.
